Edible Inks are safe to Eat and Give Great Images to Your Cakes and Cookies

Have you seen cakes with nice pictures designed on the top? If so, then you have seen the great results of what you can do with edible inks. On the cake decoration market you could find edible inks for HP, Epson and Canon. With more and more people these days seeking to decorate their cakes, the demand for such inks has gone up considerably. Many bakeries now offer a customization service whereby you can put a photo onto a cake with the ink and edible paper usually made of rice or starch. Photos printed like this can also be used on a variety of other bakery foods like cookies or cupcakes. These inks consist mostly of food coloring products that are safe for food decoration.

Extensive Use of Edible Inks

Generally, such inks are being used on pastry products. Cakes are an ideal example. Today a lot of bakeshops are offering personalized cakes using photos printed on edible paper. These are exclusively used to designs on birthday cakes, but now, any cake can be decorated with photos printed with edible ink, including the traditional wedding cakes. However, the use is not restricted to just birthday cakes and wedding cakes, other bakery products such as, cookies, cupcakes and candies can also be adorned using pictures printed with it. 
 
Device for Printing 
 
For printing with edible inks, any inkjet printer manufactured by HP, Canon or Epson can be used as long as it is dedicated for edible ink printing and does NOT come into contact with regular ink as contamination could occur. It must be remembered that any printer that is used for printing on foods must never be used on any other regular printing job. Regular inks could contaminate edible inks, and therefore any printer used for printing with edible ink cartridge should be only be utilized for that purpose only.
